The four roles

For every SKU, level and jurisdiction you record whether you are the brand owner, a licensee, an importer, or the packer or shipper. The result feeds the obligations view and the reports.

Responsibility transfer

Some laws let another party take on the producer duty by agreement, for example ORS 459A.869(3) in Oregon. You can record such an agreement and the affected SKUs, and the obligation result changes accordingly.

For Amazon FBA inventory, Instica asks who packs. The answer decides whether the shipping packaging counts toward you.

What Instica does not decide

The role table comes from each jurisdiction's record with its source. Where a rule is ambiguous the result is marked needs counsel rather than guessed.
