EPR documentation
Instica measures your packaging, estimates what you owe and prepares the files. You review, sign and submit them in the regulator's or scheme's own portal. 47 guides cover every capability.
For AI assistants and other agents: every page is also available as markdown (add .md to its address), and llms.txt lists them all with the OpenAPI document.

Packaging data
- Products and packaging specsA packaging spec describes one packaging design. Many SKUs can share it.
- Producer determinationWho counts as the producer depends on your role for each SKU, packaging level and jurisdiction.
- Entities and brandsModel your parent company, legal entities and brands so revenue tests and reports attach to the right party.
- MeasurementWeigh each component next to a photo. Every reading becomes a signed, append-only record.
- Sampling and estimationWhen the catalog is too large to measure in full, sample it and estimate the rest, with the method on record.
- SuppliersInvite suppliers to declare packaging data. Whatever they send is a proposal until you confirm it.
- Material classifierPhoto-based material proposals. A person always confirms; nothing is pre-selected.
- Automated quality checksEvery record is checked. A flag must be resolved or explained before its reporting period can lock.
Volumes
- Catalog and sales importsBring in your catalog and units sold. A file import is the foundation, and connectors are optional conveniences.
- Shipping-packaging profilesMap boxes, mailers and void fill to orders so packer-producers can count their e-commerce packaging.
- AllocationTurn sales into a per-jurisdiction figure by actual ship-to region, by population or by a declared method.
Obligations and reports
- Obligation checkerAnswer a few questions and see, per jurisdiction, whether you appear to owe, are exempt, pay a flat fee or need counsel.
- ObligationsThe Obligations view lists every jurisdiction for each entity, with your producer role and status.
- Reporting periodsA period per entity, jurisdiction and year. Lock it, check it, sign it and keep the history.
- ReportsInstica prepares the report in each jurisdiction's own format. You review and submit it.
- SubmissionInstica prepares the file and walks you through the portal. You sign and submit.
- Registrations and EPR numbersA registration data pack per EU or UK country, and your EPR numbers in one place.
- Methodology documentGenerated from your evidence: the sources, tiers, sampling, allocation and assumptions behind the figures.
Fees and targets
- FeesEstimated fees from each jurisdiction's published schedule, in USD, CAD, EUR and GBP.
- Packaging targets and redesignTrack source reduction, recycling rate and recycled content, and test a redesign before you change a box.
- Labelling requirementsPer component and market: which recyclability claims and marks the attributes support.
Trust
- EvidenceA signed evidence ZIP, a full audit log and a public way to check that a report is the one Instica prepared.
- Verifying a reportWhat the public /verify page proves, and what it does not.
- Regulatory change feedInstica watches each jurisdiction's sources and tells you what changed and what to redo.
- Deadlines and remindersA calendar per entity and jurisdiction, with reminders before each date.
- NotificationsDeadlines, regulatory changes, supplier replies, quality flags, reports, invites and billing, by email and in the app.
- How rule and fee data is maintainedEvery jurisdiction fact carries a source. Changes are reviewed by two people.
Platform
- Organization and securityRoles, team management, sign-in options and data rights.
- Plans and billingEvery paid plan includes every capability. Plans differ by records, entities, seats and identity features.
- API, webhooks and MCPA REST API for every capability, signed webhooks, and a remote MCP server. Nothing here submits to a regulator.
- WebhooksSigned event deliveries to up to 20 endpoints, with retries and secret rotation.
- MCP assistant accessA remote MCP server with OAuth lets an assistant work with your data under the same scopes as a key.
- ConnectorsPull orders and listings from WooCommerce and BigCommerce into your volumes. A file import does the same job, and it is how eBay and Etsy order reports come in.
- Automated file flowsImport volumes on a schedule from your SFTP server or storage bucket, send exports back, and feed Power Query or Google Sheets with read-only links.
- Python SDKA typed Python client for the EPR API. One method per operation, API-key sign-in, safe retries and a sandbox mode.
- Command lineinstica-epr runs the common jobs from a terminal or a scheduler: import files, check obligations, prepare a report and download it.
- n8n nodesCommunity nodes for n8n: work with SKUs, volume imports, obligations and reports, and start workflows from Instica events.
- Accounting journalsDownload the estimated fee accrual as a manual-journal CSV in the import format of Xero, QuickBooks Online or NetSuite.
- Single sign-on and securityMulti-factor sign-in, sessions, an organization security policy, SSO with SAML or OpenID Connect, and SCIM provisioning.
- Home and dashboardsOne screen for status per jurisdiction, completeness, deadlines, fees and targets.
- Mobile: the installable web appCapture packaging on your phone from the browser. There is no native app for EPR.
- AI assist or manualYour choice. Manual entry is complete, and it takes over if a provider is down.
- Languages, units and accessibilityEvery existing locale plus Canadian French, four weight units and WCAG 2.2 AA.
- Help and supportThese docs, contextual help in the app, a support inbox and a status page.
- Public tools on instica.comFree tools that work without an account.
